Why is flu vaccine important?

xray.jpgInfluenza is a very contagious illness that strikes millions of Americans each year, with pneumonia as the most common complication in high-risk groups.  Influenza, unlike the common cold, has a swift onset of severe symptoms beginning with two to seven days of fever, headache, muscle aches, extreme fatigue, runny nose and sore throat, and a cough that is often severe and may last seven days or more.  Information about influenza disease in King County will be updated at 206-296-4949 and on our website at www.metrokc.gov/health as the season progresses.

There are various treatment options for prostate cancer.  A prostatectomy is a surgery that removes all or part of the prostate.  Typically, men with early-stage disease or cancer that is confined to the prostate will undergo a radical prostatectomy.

The procedure offers numerous benefits over the conventional open prostatectomy, including:
      • Less pain for patients
      • Faster recovery times
      • Shorter hospital stays
      • Less blood loss
      • Less internal scaring
      • Quicker return of urinary control and sexual function

Recently it was announced that the da Vinci® prostatectomy is the most often utilized treatment of prostate cancer in the United States.

bravoteam.jpg• Better visibility of the breast, particularly near the skin line, the chest wall and in women with dense breast tissue.

• Faster appointments - an average exam can now take 10-15 minutes versus 30 minutes with the traditional film based mammograms.

• Fewer callbacks for patients. The ability to generate images within seconds and the flexibility to magnify and manipulate those images will eliminate many of the callbacks that are necessary with traditional film based systems.
